Customizing my storage, too

I love to customize everything in my house to my tastes. That can take little things like just adding a ribbon trim to a drape or painting some cool looking stencils onto a piece of furniture. It's really quite simple. But it does make a world of difference though. Once I buy something for my home, I almost always customize it in one way or another. So I want to do the same with some storage solutions.

I've realized lately that my home has started to look a little bit cluttered so I need a little bit of extra storage to look cute and neaten things up a bit. While I was looking through some ideas for some home storage solutions, I saw something about new windows and knew that I had to read that too. Our home's windows are drafty, old and just don't look very good. So I'm going to use that service to replace all of them.
I found an idea for how to make a custom storage basket and knew that I had to do this, if not for anything else just my cookbooks in my kitchen.

Last week I went to http://www.tvbydirect.com/ to see what I could find for adding more channels to our line- up. I don’t watch a ton of TV, but when I do, I love to see shows that inspire and touch the heart. As a teacher, most days you feel that what you do is thankless. You pour your heart and soul into your instruction purely for the benefit of others, and most days what you do is received with less than thanks or praise. I received an email from a student I had last quarter. He was an older gentleman, and for the first few weeks of the term, he looked at me most nights like I had my head on backwards. He didn’t say much, and he often wore a pained expression like he was nearly dying getting through my instruction and activities. For whatever reason, this man interested me. He looked like he was carrying a story inside, so I worked my hardest to draw it out. My instincts were dead on. He had lost his wife, the absolute love of his life, to cancer some years back. After a fruitful career, he was looking to try something new. At times I felt foolish with my challenges for writing and the stress I placed on the importance of good grammar. All of this changed when he sent me this beautiful email thanking me for how much I had invested in this course and how much he appreciated the personal touches I had given the class. His words meant so much, and I as responded, I reminded him that words such as his own are the mere things that keep me going even when I feel like no one cares.

The Best Present

My son, Bobby, has wanted nothing more than a TV for his room ever since he could start talking. My husband and I don’t think it’s a good idea for kids to have TV’s in their rooms because then we can’t monitor what they are watching. We also don’t allow him to have a computer in his room for the same reason. This has made us the “uncool” parents for many years, but we have stuck firm with our decision. We have been so pleased with our son. He is now on the varsity football and basketball teams, and he makes straight A’s, so we decided to go ahead and let him get a TV for his room. Not only that, but we got it for him for Christmas, complete with a satellite subscription fromDirect TV Mobile. He’s so excited, and it was fun to watch his face when he got this gift he has literally wanted forever! Whoever said it was more joyous to give than to receive must have had a child with the look on their face that my son said when he opened that box!

Travel Channel Feud

When my wife asked me to go to --- to look into the extended channel packages I had no idea it was because she wanted to watch all the Travel shows on The Travel Channel! I mean, I love her and that she’s got a great wanderlust but we just got married and we really can’t afford to be dreaming about travelling all over the country right now. There’s no use sitting there all day thinking about all the places you can’t go if you ask me! I don’t mind that channel though because it’s got Anthony Bourdainand also that Adam Richman guy who hosts Man vs. Food which I think are both great guy shows. My mom would hate them but my wife doesn’t seem to mind them too bad so I guess it makes sitting through all her wispy travel shows worth it. I don’t know if we need all these channels but I guess I’m really glad we now have the travel channel since we both seem to enjoy it!
