I was given the opportunity to test out Streekers and I was so excited. Granted these would have been perfect in my teenage years when I had more of a wild streek, but the streek is still there, it's just a little smaller now. ;o) I tried Streekers in Red. Red is one of my favorite colors and I really thought it would stand out the best in my hair. Now, my hair is dark brown. I have had people think my hair is black, it is such a dark brown. Unfortunately I was not able to get the vibrant red I was hoping for (Streekers does advise that their shades are vivid on blonde hair and more like subtle highlights on darker hair), but overall I really liked the look I got from it. Just nice red highlights throughout my hair. And best of all, since Streekers hair color can be brushed after it dries without flaking off, my hair is still soft when wearing. I find that the red in my dark hair is a great way to change up my look without being too dramatic. I tried to get a picture of Streekers in my hair, but it's so subtle for me it didn't show up very well on camera. I do think that if I would have applied it with a heavier hand it is possible to build up a stronger color on darker hair though, and maybe with a different color it might have been more dramatic.
To apply Streekers you just lift your hair up and away from your scalp in small sections, and apply from root to tip. Long strokes seem to work best, and it really does dry fast. In less than a minute I was able to touch the hair where Streekers was applied without getting color on my hands. I would recommend using a towel over your shoulders to protect clothing as it can stain them. It was very easy to wash out, for me I only needed one shampoo. Streekers advises that bleached blonde hair may need more washings, and that you can apply styling wax before application of Streekers as added precaution against staining. There are no harsh chemicals in Streekers, no ammonia or peroxide, and while there is an odor while applying (it goes away after it dries in your hair) it was not strong or overpowering and did not make me hurry to finish and open a window. To me, it wasn't as strong as say, painting my nails. I definitely want to get more of these, and I would feel comfortable using them with my girls.
