Streekers - Review and Giveaway!

Streekers is instant, liquid, temporary hair color.  It is easy to apply, can be brushed without losing the color, and washes out easily with just shampoo when you want it to.  Streekers is available in eight vibrant colors, so you're sure to find the perfect color to compliment your style.  You can find Streekers in pink, blue, ultra violet, red, green, yellow, orange, and purple.  They have been featured in Cosmopolitan, InStyle, Glamour, Teen Vogue and more!

I was given the opportunity to test out Streekers and I was so excited.  Granted these would have been perfect in my teenage years when I had more of a wild streek, but the streek is still there, it's just a little smaller now.  ;o)  I tried Streekers in Red.  Red is one of my favorite colors and I really thought it would stand out the best in my hair.  Now, my hair is dark brown.  I have had people think my hair is black, it is such a dark brown.  Unfortunately I was not able to get the vibrant red I was hoping for (Streekers does advise that their shades are vivid on blonde hair and more like subtle highlights on darker hair), but overall I really liked the look I got from it.  Just nice red highlights throughout my hair.  And best of all, since Streekers hair color can be brushed after it dries without flaking off, my hair is still soft when wearing.  I find that the red in my dark hair is a great way to change up my look without being too dramatic.  I tried to get a picture of Streekers in my hair, but it's so subtle for me it didn't show up very well on camera.  I do think that if I would have applied it with a heavier hand it is possible to build up a stronger color on darker hair though, and maybe with a different color it might have been more dramatic.

To apply Streekers you just lift your hair up and away from your scalp in small sections, and apply from root to tip.  Long strokes seem to work best, and it really does dry fast.  In less than a minute I was able to touch the hair where Streekers was applied without getting color on my hands.  I would recommend using a towel over your shoulders to protect clothing as it can stain them.  It was very easy to wash out, for me I only needed one shampoo.  Streekers advises that bleached blonde hair may need more washings, and that you can apply styling wax before application of Streekers as added precaution against staining.  There are no harsh chemicals in Streekers, no ammonia or peroxide, and while there is an odor while applying (it goes away after it dries in your hair) it was not strong or overpowering and did not make me hurry to finish and open a window.  To me, it wasn't as strong as say, painting my nails.  I definitely want to get more of these, and I would feel comfortable using them with my girls.

Want to give Streekers a try?  You're in luck!  We have some to giveaway!

Brown Bag Candles, Review and Giveaway!

Brown Bag Candles offers a variety of hand-poured, richly scented pillar candles, votives, tea lights, container candles, and triple scented wax tarts, including their beautiful bakery tarts.  They look good enough to eat!  They also offer a nice selection of tart warmers, and decorative candle holders.  I love their mercantile jars.

Anyone who knows me, knows I almost always have a candle or a tart going in my house.  To me, the enjoyment that a wonderful fragrance can provide is relaxing and is such an important part of my day.  They are my indulgence.  :o)  Kathleen, at Brown Bag Candles was kind enough to send me a few of their products to review.  Included were four votive candles, six of their lovely triple scented tarts, and two packs of tea-lights.  I loved the simple, primitive country packaging.  It is just darling.

I have taken the time to enjoy all of these items and I would highly recommend Brown Bag Candles.  Their candles and tarts are definitely triple scented, and I love them!  I can't even pick a favorite because Kathleen included a selection of all of my very favorite scents.  Their selection of fragrances is nothing short of impressive as well, you will definitely be able to find something that you will enjoy.  I may or may not recommend burning a Downy scented tart if you want (your husband) someone to think you've been doing laundry all day (instead of blogging)

The scented tea-lights are very nice as well.  I tend to only buy plain tea-lights, but these were great.  They filled the room with much more scent than I was expecting to come from such a tiny package, and they burn for hours.  Everything I have tried from Brown Bag Candles has been excellent.

Brown Bag Candles also sent me a lovely boxed set of twelve Apple Blossom scented tea-lights to mail to one lucky winner!

Costume Squad, Review and Giveaway!

Costume Squad is yet another great site in the Crazy Dog family of brands.  They carry a lot of great costumes, as well as a great selection of the funny t-shirts that Crazy Dog is known for.

I wonder if I can convice my husband to wear this Top Gun costume for Halloween this year?  Probably not...haha!  I could totally see him in this Ron Burgundy costume though.  Much more his style.  Most of the women's costumes are a bit more risque than I would wear out in public, but I do like this Enchanted Alice costume.  Definitely check them out as it gets closer to Halloween.

Lots of great t-shirts available as well.  I personally love these:

Costume Squad sent us the Ninja Turtles t-shirt, (I guess I have a thing for 80's t-shirts) and I love it!  It's super soft and comfortable... and well, a blast from my past.  Turtle Power!

Costume Squad is allowing us to host a giveaway for one adult t-shirt on their site!  One winner will be able to select an adult t-shirt of their choosing that is priced at $18.00 or less on CostumeSquad.com. (Disclaimer as per Crazy Dog: Winners cannot have won a shirt from us or have been sent a shirt for promotional purposes in the last 90 days or own a blog of their own.)

TruKid Review and Giveaway!

At TruKid, their goal is to spread the word about helping kids create healthy habits, starting with their skin, but they also want kids to have fun while using their products as well.  This is why they use brightly colored bottles, fun product names, and use a simple symbol system to allow kids to easily recognize what the product is for.  As if that's not awesome enough, their products are all natural, non-toxic, and free of parabens, phthalates, gluten, BPA, SLS, 1-4 doizane, and fragrances.  Not that the kids really care about that...but parents do!  It is important to TruKid that they encourage kids to form healthy habits that last a lifetime.  By combining all natural skincare with fun and education, TruKid cultivates a relationship between healthy habits and being a kid. Their hope is that kids will grow up taking care of themselves, each other and their environment. From their Friendly Face Wash™ to Funny Foot Cream™, families receive only the best in ingredients, attention and dedication to their well being.

TruKid sent us nearly their entire line of products to review, and I must say they did not disappoint.  Not only can I pronounce their entire list of ingredients, but I also know what everything is without having to go look it up, and I know they are safe for my sweet girls.  My oldest has somewhat sensitive skin and these products did not irritate her at all.  We have tested everything except for the Sunny Days sunscreen, it just hasn't been sunny enough lately here and too chilly to be out much.  Most are lightly scented with a blend of essential oils, and all smell great, like oranges and grapefruits.  My girls were able to easily tell which product was for what by looking at the symbols, which is great because they can't read yet (my oldest is four, she's getting there!).  They love the colors of the bottles and they're quick to tell me every night that they *have* to wash their faces before bed, mostly they just want to use the cool pump on the face wash, but hey, whatever works!  :o)  They love the product names too, they're simple, but fun, and they always giggle when I tell them I'm about to use the SILLY shampoo or the BUBBLY body wash.

TruKid has offered to allow us to host a giveaway for our readers as well!  One lucky winner will receive three full sized products
