Skintimate Shave Cream & Schick Hydro Silk - w/ Giveaway!

I have long been a fan of Skintimate shaving creams and Schick razors.  As a "crazy coupon lady" I stock up when there is a good sale in combination with a coupon, so I've tried many different shaving creams and brands of razors.  Skintimate ranks as my top shaving cream for the value, and how well it works.  Schick razors are right up there as well.  Schick strives to not only give you a good shave with their razors, but to make the shave smooth, and free of pain or irritation as well.  With their razors, shaving doesn't have to be a chore.  I shave nearly every single day, and it's easy for that to feel like an annoyance, just another daily chore to check off the list, and honestly, women have enough to do in the shower, shaving should be quick and easy.  With Schick, it is!

I was recently sent a Schick Hydro Silk so I could give you all my thoughts.  This is an awesome razor.  It has five blades, designed to sense your curves.  Curve Sensing Blades are individually supported blades that can move independently from each other to allow the razor to safely and effectively maneuver over knees and ankles. This not only gives you a close, smooth shave, but helps to eliminate little knicks in your skin from the blades.  I love being able to glide the Hydro Silk over my knees and ankles, without having to be super careful and worried about cutting myself.  I lovvve all of the advancements in razors over the years.  When I was a teen and started to shave, I started with my dad's old razors. Then I moved up to inexpensive single razors, and then double razors and thought those were amazing, but I still cut myself quite often.  Nowadays, razors are soooo luxurious compared to what I started out with (and I'm not ancient or anything, haha, I'm only 27!).  Anyways.  Shick Hydro Silk.  The five blades on this razor are surrounded by a smooth plastic that houses a moisturizing serum infused with marine extracts.  The serum is actived by the water you use to shave with, and helps the razor to glide effortlessly over your skin, keeping irritation to a minimum, or for me at least, non-existant.  I have no irritation at all with this razor.  Shaving can dry your skin out as well, so the added moisturization is great!  I also really like the soft touch handle.  It is textured to help you keep a good grip.  This is great for slippery, wet hands!  The razor I was sent included the razor, two sets of blades, and a suction cup holder (love that, it's such a space saver!).

To really amp up your shave, you definitely have to check out Skintimate's Lotionized Shave Creme.  They just got some new packaging, too!  There are three formulas to choose from so you can get exactly what your skin needs.

  • Frosted Velvet - Revitalizing.  A rich cream, infused with exfoliating pearls, verbena, olive butter, soy, and antioxidants white tea.  Leaves skin feeling revitalized, silk smooth, and noticeably softer.
  • Cashmere Rain - For dry skin.  Enriched with natural olive butter, soy and antioxidant white tea.  Skin feels noticeably softer, and luxuriously hydrated.
  • Soothing Petals - Extra gentle.  Blended with natrual olive butter, soy, antioxidant vitamin E, and aloe vera.  This cream shave provides sensitive skin with a cushion of moisture rich protection.

I recieved a sample of the Extra Gentle Soothing Petals (in the green bottle).  The bottle is cute, and I love the flower petal design.  I opens and closes easily, stands on it's own, and it's not a big deal if you lose the cap.  Plus, it's entirely plastic, which I like because sometimes those metal shaving cream cans end up leaving rust rings in the shower where they sit.

For an extra gentle formula, the fragrance is a little stronger than what I might normally expect.  This is fine for me, fragrances don't generally bother me and I like stonger scented products.  Don't get me wrong, it's not at all overpowering, but it is a lightly floral scent, that took me a little off guard for scents as I wasn't expecting much at all.  I like it, though!  One of my other favorite scents for Skintimate shave creams is the Baby Soft scent, and it reminds me a bit of that, a little like baby powder.

This isn't a foaming shave cream, which takes some getting used to.  It's like a thick lotion.  You don't need nearly as much (I use about a dime sized blob for each leg, and I shave my entire leg), just a small amount will spread out to envelop your legs in a moisturizing film, that allows the razor to glide effortlessly over the skin.  It's fantastic in combination with the SchickHydro Silk's five blades and water activated moisturizing serum.  All of that moisture is heavenly for the months of dry air we'll have with Winter on it's way.  Take that, dry skin!  I've got Skintimate's Moisturizing Shave Cream on my side this year!  I find this lasts longer than foaming shave creams as well, so it makes for a great deal when you find it on sale!
